Look what just arrived in the post! First volume of Friday Zone Stories, with my folk-horror story "Bone, Salt, Iron" in it! Plus nine other "unsettling" tales... I'm just settling down for a read.

My uncle wanted a specific bit of exercise equipment for Christmas. Wrapping it was always going to be a faff, and probably look a bit strange, so I decided to lean into it...

There's something about the way that mushrooms can turn themselves inside out (there's probably a word for it) that always makes me see them as really cheerful. This strikes me as a very upbeat mushroom.
In general, I disapprove of people co-opting information systems for other things. But sometimes, it's difficult not to love them for it.

In the UK at the moment, there's an ad campaign alerting users to the risks of illegal streaming (you can read about it here: https://amp.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2023/oct/07/uk-users-of-illicit-streaming-services-warned-of-risk-fraud-police-visit ).
Never mind that. What is worrying me is the text on the posters... just expand this image and have a look...
What government whiz decided "yeah, the bastard child of a Windows prompt and some invalid XML, that's what this campaign needs".
