I am sick of not being able to get things off my chest - Lemmy.World

So I suppose this is a meta-complaint. I thought about how to post something anonymously but the risk is obviously always higher than not posting anything at all. So it would be foolish to attempt that. But, I can meta-complain. I can meta-complain and people will at least know there is something killing me inside. Thanks for listening to this useless off-my-chest post and indulging me slightly.

One thing I want to try is journaling, to start.

Managing knowledge and feelings that can't be shared - Lemmy.World

If you are unable to share certain thoughts or feelings with any other human in any meaningful way, how can a person manage this in a healthy way? Both psychologically sound and proven methods as well as personal anecdotes are welcome. Please assume sharing is non-negotiable which precludes close friends, family, and/or professionals.

Will fireproof safes work in reverse? - Lemmy.World

If items in a fireproof safe are purposefully set on fire with a fully closed and locked safe, are contents outside of the safe generally safe from fire? The safe can be placed in a secluded spot and on stone.

Controlled burning - Lemmy.World

How to manage controlled burning of paper either inside or in a backyard where fires may or may not be legal. I am not endorsing or personally considering these actions in any inappropriate setting.

The weight of being unable to share things with literally anyone is totally fine until for some reason the crushing reality of your life comes crashing down on your consciousness and you start seeking some new form of mental relief like a cockroach looking for shelter in the midst of a nuclear fallout.

Typing into the abyss - need a service - Lemmy.World

Does it exist, some sort of encrypted journal-like app where I can type things which will be forever locked away? In my mind and in a place I can feel confident about, without a doubt. Pen and paper requires burning afterwards, I don’t think I want to do this. I know no opsec solution is perfect. I need some sort of outlet. I need some sort of solution. I was thinking. Maybe, at least, some solution where even though access is non-negotiable, if somebody does get in, I can accept that the entity was already determined enough to end things. Thanks.

Please protect your personal information, people. For those curious what sparked the idea of posting this - it was Doug Ford’s proposal for live-streaming bail hearings, which gave me a push towards discussing things I’ve never really publicly discussed.

Experiences with the Crown as a plaintiff

Experiences with the Crown as a plaintiff - Lemmy.World

I am curious of the experiences/opinions of those who have had first hand or any other close encounters with the Crown as a plaintiff in Ontario. In my two unique experiences, I have found a few things to appear true: - the Crown sometimes forgets their duty to act in the public interest and can pursue a case where those involved on both sides do not personally want to pursue a legal dispute. - the Crown does not act with enough discretion at times to throw out charges by the police which are flagrantly exaggerated and highly unlikely to succeed on their merits. - the Crown does not lend enough nuance to their pursuits and needs to focus on diversifying away from a punishment-based system. Of course these are from personal experiences so I would like to hear from others in Ontario to know what you think. All experiences, opinions, and discussions are with the exception of clearly provocative and/or discriminatory demeanour. Thanks!

Fun fact when you apply for ODSP you are “encouraged” to fill out an “optional” self-assessment and talk about how your life is shit and plead your case and describe your issues to some unknown government shithead who’s not a qualified practitioner. Most reports I’ve seen, people say this drastically improves your odds at acceptance. I’d imagine from about 0.5% to 1% or something like that.

Isn’t that just the most fun fucking fact you’ve ever heard?

Hey when you apply for a job can they request you share your personal medical history to help your odds of qualifying? No, they can’t? Huh.
