still find it weird* that police and news folks ever put any stock into the theory of "homeless people are the ones stealing catalytic converters" given that the only way to fence them is via a corrupt scrap metal dealer forging the paperwork and laundering them in with legit platinum-containing scrap, which is only profitable if performed at a large and organised scale.
