iOS, MacOS, Android software developer by day, and by night. Trying to come up with the next little thing and the next big thing all at the same time.

I’m always advocating for software developers to revolt against the insane technical interviewing practices of big tech companies like Google and Amazon.

So it’s hard for me to sympathize with devs who bent over for that bs process and end up getting bitten later.

40645 lines. That may be a new record for projects I’ve inherited. Though in fairness, the last line is blank, so really 40644 lines.

Xcode symbol navigator took 49 seconds to scroll through all of the symbols at high speed.

@aspittel How in the world do you manage to maintain as much presence on here as you do on that other social network?!?

Impressive! 😂

My new project is finally officially announced. I’m developing the iOS and Android apps for the ARIV.

@aaribaud Yeah, woulda sworn it was without the last ‘e’, but you’re right. 😃

‪I’m sometimes surprised by the things iOS autocorrect (internal dictionary) recognizes: cultural references, names...‬

‪Today I typed CompuServ.‬

‪It’s marked as an error.‬

‪How could you.‬

I feel accomplished!

It’s still early January and I just hung something I bought for the wife for Christmas.

Mind you, it was Christmas 2017, but that’s besides the point!

‪Perhaps programming is more like practicing medicine.‬

‪“You exhibit these symptoms. We think that means you have this illness (bug). So we’re going to apply this treatment (fix)...‬

‪...and hope that it works.‬

‪If it doesn’t, we’ll try something else.”‬

‪Admittedly I spent too many years in this biz in a junior dev mindset:‬

‪“A developer should JUST be expected to know how to write code, NOT be proficient with an IDE, NOT know/do Continuous Integration, NOT know source control tools...”‬

‪To an extent, I suffer to this day for not having evolved that mindset sooner.‬

‪Realized today that I’m 46, and have been programming professionally for 23 years.‬

‪Half my life spent in this biz.‬

‪Much of it spent trying, unsuccessfully so far, to hit it big with some project of my own.‬

‪Not sure whether to be proud or depressed. 😂‬
