Working with Chris Krebs and getting to know his wife Emily and their family has been one of the great honors of my life. The extralegal attack against their family should be condemned by all.

I have written a post about what is happening to them here: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/alexstamos_exclusive-former-trump-official-targeted-activity-7318372702438707201-SLo2

Exclusive | Former Trump Official Targeted With Government Probe Vows to… | Alex Stamos

*The following is a message from Alex and Katie Stamos and does not represent any company or organization* Working with Chris Krebs and getting to know his wife Emily and their five children has been one of the great honors of my life. For the entire time I have known Chris, he has demonstrated a deep love for his country, a dedication to protecting American democracy from foreign adversaries, and great skill in shaping the policy and technical environment to America’s advantage. After being unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate as the first Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, Chris took an oath to protect and defend the United States Constitution. He was following this oath when he built the technical infrastructure needed to prevent vulnerabilities in state and local election systems, advocated for paper ballots, and provided unprecedented support for fifty bipartisan Secretaries of State who uniformly praised his leadership during the 2020 election. He was also following this oath when he reported his observations to the American people. The might of the Executive Branch is now aimed at Chris and his family based on personal targeting so corrosive to democratic norms that the Framers explicitly disallowed it in our Constitution. Chris and Emily made the decision years ago to forgo the rewards of the private sector for government service, for them to face an legal attack that was marked out-of-bounds at the founding of our nation should be publicly condemned by any American who believes in the Constitution as the guiding document of our country. Considering how honorably Chris and Emily have acted, it is no surprise that Chris has decided to step down from SentinelOne in an effort to spare his colleagues from collective punishment for actions he took as a Senate-confirmed officer of the President’s last administration. My wife Katie and I stand 100% behind the Krebs family and we pray for them and for the future of our democracy. https://lnkd.in/ghiKCriD

Folks, we're getting down to the wire on our Kickstarter for "One Billions Users" are ridiculously fun "social media" card game. Yes, it's fun even if (*especially if*) you hate social media.

We're haven't reached our funding threshold, but are still holding out hope that we'll get there with a final day push!

With lots of discussion about how Dems could better appeal to working class voters, I’m reminded of a quote from the film Precious in which a poor black girl comments on her middle class teachers, “They talk like TV channels I don't watch…”
“55% of Trump supporters are Christian nationalists, as measured by their agreement with statements like “Being Christian is an important part of being truly American” and “God has called Christians to exercise dominion over all areas of American society.” https://www.nytimes.com/2024/06/17/opinion/indiana-christian-nationalist-republican-party.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare&sgrp=c-cb

“Five of the top 10 major cities with the highest rates of homelessness nationally are in California: San Francisco, Long Beach, LA, Oakland & Sacramento, in that order. In 2022, the homelessness rate in San Francisco was nearly 20X higher than in Houston, and Los Angeles’ was almost 14X higher.” https://www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2024-04-05/california-texas-housing-homelessness
Opinion: Why is California behind Texas in curbing homelessness?

While Houston and Austin make strides, Los Angeles, San Francisco and other Golden State cities continue to struggle. But there are solutions available.

"So, then, why is Penguin Random House trying to kill the Internet Archive?"

Mike Masnick @mmasnick points out the publishing giant's inconsistencies in believing in the importance of "equitable access to books" while suing a library, in Techdirt. https://www.techdirt.com/2023/12/18/internet-archive-files-opening-brief-in-its-appeal-of-book-publishers-win/

Internet Archive Files Opening Brief In Its Appeal Of Book Publishers’ Win

A few weeks ago, publishing giant Penguin Random House (and, yes, I’m still confused why they didn’t call it Random Penguin House after the merger) announced that it was filing a lawsuit (along wit…

“In Kenya and Rwanda, dozens of start-ups are vying to replace oil-guzzling motorcycle taxis with battery-powered ones. In India, *more than half* of all new three-wheeled vehicles sold and registered this year were battery-operated.” https://www.nytimes.com/2023/12/09/business/energy-environment/two-three-wheel-electric-vehicles.html

Two- and three-wheeled vehicles, used by billions of people, are moving away from fossil fuels to batteries faster than cars in countries that have made the energy transition a priority.

“Housing for cars is super-cheap and housing for people is super-expensive. At some point, when the delta between the space for cars and the space for people becomes so, so large, then people begin to think about living in cars.” — @asymco https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2023-11-26/cal-poly-humboldt-students-who-live-in-vehicles-are-ordered-off-campus
