Farewell, Charlie 🖤 Our beloved Welsh pony passed away peacefully today, surrounded by love. Rescued in 2010, he lived 14 wonderful years with us despite Cushing’s Disease and laminitis. Each day he walked the lanes with Nelson and Magic, always ready for stables at noon. A true character — gentle, proud, and full of spark. He munched an apple and drifted off. 💛 #HorseRescue #FarewellCharlie #EHCRC
🖤 Meet Luceiro — our very first rescue. In 2008, he was locked in a dark stable, his eye rotting, and days from being sold for meat. Saving him changed everything. We didn't plan to start a rescue, but Luceiro changed our lives. He’s still with us today — proud, quirky, and deeply loved. 💛 #EHCRC #HorseRescue #Luceiro

Alice, recently paired with Diplomat after both lost their friends, had her teeth treated today. Years of neglect left her in pain, but thanks to your support, she’s now getting the expert care she deserves. 🦷💞

In this short video, Susan explains what’s happening as our vet Dorothea works gently on Alice’s mouth.

🐴 Remembering Oscar

Rescued in 2015 from the salt lakes near Torrevieja, Oscar was skeletal, overworked and barely standing. One of the worst abuse cases our vet had seen.

Then came the threats – his former owners tried to take him back. With your support, we built a wall to keep him – and others – safe.

Oscar lived seven peaceful years with us. A survivor. A symbol of why we do this work.

Thank you, Oscar. 💛

It is widely recognised that the health of animals, people and the environment are inextricably linked; as such, we have incorporated a ‘one-health’ approach into our conservation work.

Our Work | International Animal Rescue

The health of animals and the environment depends heavily on human activities and on our relationship with nature.  Equally, the health of animals and the environment also determines our own human health.

Very sadly, our old boy Freddie passed away this wk 😢 At almost 18, he was one of our oldest residents but still living his best life, with all his woolly friends around him. We're glad to have given him a safe, comfortable home, & to have known & loved this sweet lad ❤️🐑🌈
