THEY'RE ALIVE! πŸ”₯ After 5 months of planning, testing, making, breaking, remaking (and breaking again), my first ceramic wall lights are finally out of the glaze kiln and on the wall! More process shots coming soon, but I couldn't wait to share these ✨

What an incredible 4 days!

πŸ”₯Just wrapped up an intensive wood kiln building and fast fire course with The Ecomusicology Project and The Beaker Folk at Stanmer Park, Brighton.

From construction to firing,
this was hands-on learning at its finest. The best part? Coming away with some absolutely wicked pots that exceeded all expectations.

But here's the real surprise - those Mayco glazes I've been working with are absolute performers even pushed to cone 12! 😱

There's something magical about wood firing - the unpredictability, the community aspect, the way flame and ash interact with your work in ways you can never fully control. Every piece tells the story of its journey through the kiln.Huge thanks to the amazing instructors and fellow makers who shared this experience. Already planning my next wood firing adventure! 🏺

Here's a Bluesky post about your trimming challenge:

Today's mission: completely wreck my trimming tools on 6 bowls thrown with seriously groggy clay.

Added one porcelain piece for comparison - gotta see just how brutal this clay really is!

Tools may not survive.

Total surprise firing this Mayco Green Jasper over Dark Brown engobe to cone 7! Produced unexpected blues, greens, blacks, and matte areas. The scraffito cuts reveal the clay beneath - Green Jasper's transparent base lets you see the contrast clearly.

Worth the wait for firing and the effort to clean up those edges!

I'm happy with how this turned out and looking forward to my other stencil experiments coming back

This week's pickup from the kiln.

3 Royale porcelain mugs, one bubble underglaze, 1 sponged underglaze, and 1 sponged slip.

And finally, 1 vivid green citrus juicer made from white St Thomas ☺️ πŸ‹

One soon-to-be oil bottle.

The neck size testers finally got glaze fired, so the neck should be the right size this time 🀞

Also a good opportunity to practice my carving 😊

Bubble glaze time.

The drips look kinda cool, maybe I can do them on purpose next time!

Royale porcelain with Scarva nano colours mixed into fluxed underglaze.

Hopefully it will fire nicely
