Hard to believe but after 40+ years in software development I'm actually starting to use git. I've already committed some major sins and fucked up a couple repositories (not fatally) but I'm learning.

Any advice for a newb?

I've got 40+ years of scripts, apps, notes and such to publish

Links to newb ref cards welcome; I have Julia Evan's "How Git Works" booklet (https://jvns.ca/blog/2024/04/25/new-zine--how-git-works-/)

It still has an 80% charge! Taking bids...
Libs: when you cash in your Soros checks for the protests, make sure they are in Euros or some other non-US currency. And don’t let him trick you into taking stonks! Georgie did that to me and then ran away cackling.
What I've been working on since I left the daily grind: Introducing: FenceNet™ Protocol. Rugged outdoor mesh networking using the Earth itself as the physical layer and barbed wire for signal propagation. Fully grounded, naturally firewalled. Earth impedance-matched at 42 ohms and LoRa compatible!

The holidays can be a really tough time. The advice I often heard was, "Volunteer at a soup kitchen. Help others. Get out of your head." It's perfectly fine advice, but unhelpful if the mere thought of interacting with people is overwhelming. Anyway, here's a thing I did one year that did help:

I bought a Cookie Monster costume, went to the airport, and waited at arrivals with a sign that said "COOKIE"

Didn't have to talk to anyone and boy did I get to watch people's faces light up.

Looks like the Bluesky servers have fallen over. Perhaps it's the 20M users now. Perhaps a bad feature rollout. Maybe a DDOS since it's in the news. Regardless, it does appear they're limping along - I get parts of a website but it never completes as of 3pm today.

Edit: Seems to be back as of 3:24pm today.

This turkey mom and chicks has been a highlight of this wet summer here. They visit the feeder and yards around the house; they also just melt into the bushes at the edge of the field when they leave. It's magical! Guessing most will wander after they mature but we'll probably have a flock for a bit
Some highlights of the light show last evening around midnight here in Minnesota (Solar storm G5 event). If I hadn't taken a picture the sky was just a lighter shade than normal but you could see some motion and striations; city lights and all that. Lightsaber performance provided by @Lthrfx
Here near Erie PA lots of clouds but it just added to the ambiance IMO - handheld Nikon D5300 w/300mm zoom at F8. Orangeish photo was with the sun filter.
