A few examples from Batman/Superman TAS's BDs, which was also 15-16mbps on average like the Fleischer one is. I see no signs of unwatchably bad compression. So again, if this BD is like this and was DNR'd similarly, there's nothing to worry about and he's totally overblowing it
I believe in this case they said DNR was necessary bc otherwise they couldn't color grade properly. Which is totally understandable. As someone who actively works on animation film restoration, when grading the grain can become way too intense/ugly/distracting, so this is valid.
On the other hand, could be a Scooby Doo BD job where they did totally "screw the pooch" as he said, but more often than not, complaints about DNR/grain removal are way overexaggerated &it's really not that bad. Some of the BEST remasters use DNR well, hope that's the case here.
Even if he's right, I'd take anything people say about video quality with a grain of salt till you see it for yourself. Even "experts" don't know what they're talking about half the time. If this set/its DNR are anything like the Batman/Superman TAS BDs, then it should be fine.
1. Bitrate isn't everything. I have to say this SO OFTEN. It's only part of the equation.
2. If you're going to make big claims like this, at least back them up with screenshots instead of assuming people will blindly agree w/ no evidence. No screenshots on the review either.

Gunbuster!
Copies are shipping and the wait is finally very short!
Everyone at @discotekmedia metaphorically (maybe literally a bit also) killed themselves over & over on this one.

TwitterThis always sucks to see, but the first mistake was treating YouTube as an archive. DON'T TREAT YOUTUBE AS AN ARCHIVE.

Just heard back from @TeamYouTube
We're out with no other options? Is there no way to learn which file was the offender and remove that? Otherwise our entire archive is gone forever? Hundreds and hundreds of videos gone?
With no strikes on our account before this.

TwitterThere were multiple damaged shots on the negatives that needed frame by frame restoration, and some general dirt/dust cleanup. I had the honor of handling that for this release. It looks amazing and such a huge upgrade over every past release.

Iria Zeiram the Animation Blu-ray
About Iria Zeiram the Animation Blu-rayIria Zeiram the Animation contains OVA episodes 1-6 of the anime directed by Tetsuro Amino. As an apprentice Hunter, Iria can’t wait until she can get the fun jobs like her big brother (and top Hunter), Gren. In fact, he’s just got a new one: get to a ship adrift in space and evacuate crew, passengers, and cargo. It sounds fun enough to tag along, uninvited... only, it goes wrong from the start. Evading an assassination attempt from the very people that hired them, they make it to the job site, and find it’s a bloody one. The crew is dead, the passengers are terrified, and the cargo? Well, that moved itself…Iria encounters the so-called cargo, and it’s Zeiram, a creature said to be immortal. The terrifying monster turns Iria’s life upside down, as she barely manages to escape from the ship with her life. Gren, however, is not so lucky. Iria finds herself caught in a conspiracy to cover up the events of that day, and with every step she takes, she finds Zeiram right behind her. Why is it so interested in her? Does it simply want to kill her, or is there something more beneath its black carapace? It’s time for “Killing Dimension Action” in Iria: Zeiram the Animation, complete and remastered with all six OVA episodes!Special Features: Interviews with Creator Keita Amemiya & Character Designer Masakazu Katsura, Creditless Opening and Ending, Trailers and Commercials, Art Galleries
