Do cliffhangers at the end of TV shows affect subsequent sleep? We investigated this in a sleep lab study.
Although suspenseful TV shows and especially those ending on a cliffhanger increase arousal, they only have minor impacts on sleep. Participants fell asleep faster after a suspenseful vs. not suspenseful show, but objective sleep quality was lower after a cliffhanger.

Out now in Policy & Internet📢 In a two-part eye-tracking study, we (w/ @meinungsfuehrer M. Sülflow, @joerg_h & M. Maurer) investigate whether and how Facebook's ad disclaimers affect perception of #microtargeting ads.

Spoiler: neither Facebook's current nor past labeling is sufficient in creating transparency. Against the backdrop of intransparent DPA being a challenge/threat for democratic processes, it is necessary for FB to revise its ad disclaimers.

So, trying to confirm @Prof_Mirya 's champagne rules?
- open a bottle when article submitted
- open a bottle when article rejected
- open a bottle when article accepted
- open a bottle when get an R&R
Is that it? So, one article could result in 3 or 4 bottles of champagne?
I find it amazing how quickly academic Twitter has ceased to be. All the interesting stuff seems to be at Mastodon these days. So now that we're at it: could we maybe also just get rid of academic publishers by massively defecting to diamond open access journals?

All new to this - skipped the whole Twitter thing - but very happy to try this out!
