Kinda retired, but not very good at it. Freelance tech columnist for the Houston Chronicle. Project manager for Space City Weather. Still a pizza lover, aspiring cat lady.

I live in Houston. It's worth it.

You know, I have never looked at what the Internet Archive (aka the Wayback Machine) has stored of my personal website, https://dwightsilverman.com. I checked a very early capture, from 5/20/2000 and OMG: What a trip!

This was all hand-coded, by the way.

An oldie but very goodie. From 2016.

My column this week details how each of the major airlines is restricting the usage of power banks by their customers. One of the carriers I mentioned is Spirit, which at the time I wrote the column and it was prepped for online and print publication, was still a going concern. Not anymore.

Nerdiest joke ever. From my daughter, who we clearly raised right.

When you're in flight and your phone, tablet or laptop is in dire need of a charge, a power bank can be your best friend. But the FAA now restricts how they can be used, and airlines have added their own tweaks. Confusing? Yes, but I help you sort it all out.

I’ve been warning potential buyers of consumer tech to make their moves sooner rather than later. The price of gear has been surging thanks to a shortage of memory and solid-state storage chips. Sadly, “later" has arrived, and if you buy now, you're going to pay more. Maybe a lot more.
