The newly established #DSA's European Board for Digital Services had its inaugural meeting last week.

In this great piece for @dsaobservatory, @jjaursch explains why the EBDS is more than an advisor body, having in fact the potential to become a nodal point for the enforcement of the #DSA.

The DSA's "Board for Digital Services" met for 1st time on Monday

What's the role of this new regulators' group? How could it support DSA enforcement?

In my article for @dsaobservatory, I look at the Board's tasks and what questions are still open. I argue it's well-positioned to become a key node for the emerging community of practice around the DSA - if board members have resources+motivation for it

Many thanks to SNV team + Ilaria Buri for great feedback+editing!

After some political bickering, now clear+formal questions to figure out if Twitter follows DSA

Europ. Commission will have proceedings on:

Did the company do enough to counter spread of illegal content?

Separately from that - this is important! - did the company do enough to deal with "info manipulation"?

Is the company open enough for ppl, esp researchers, to understand the platform?

Are checkmarks deceptively designed?

https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/ip_23_6709

The Commission has just opened infringement proceedings against X (Twitter), for the suspected breach of a number of #DSA obligations (relating to risk management, content moderation, dark patterns, advertising transparency and data access for researchers).
