Both deserving of acclaim, but look at this! How stunning is this?

Both are superb, but look! How stunning is this?!

Sooty looks like a restless spirit that haunts a Victorian mansion. 🩶
Love Noctowl, but this wittle ashy face, my heart.
I’d be super excited to see a screech in person, ngl.

Community Rules - Lemmy.World

I added rules to the sidebar. I’d prefer to keep the wildlife rescue links at the top, but for now, I think the rules should be prominent. I’ll move them to the bottom in a couple weeks or so. I tried to keep the rules simple and straightforward. I hope they help keep this community a friendly, welcoming place to goof on owls. ---------- Community Rules: Posts must be about owls. Especially appreciated are photographs (not AI) and scientific content, but artwork, articles, news stories, personal experiences and more are welcome too. Be kind. If a post or comment bothers you, or strikes you as offensive in any way, please report it and moderators will take appropriate action. AI is discouraged. If you feel strongly that the community would benefit from a post that involves AI you may submit it, but it might be removed if the moderators feel that it is low-effort or irrelevant.

Looks good! I think Sooty v Great Horned should be interesting.

And also, Go Screechies!

Hi all ,

I’ve always preferred not to make rules, because I think it can stifle creativity and sharing, BUT, it may be necessary at this point to have one or two rules posted to the sidebar, including something about AI, as well as a general ā€œbe niceā€ sort of thing. I’m open to suggestions, if anyone wants to weigh in.

I don’t like AI though I can envision some narrow situations when it could be okay, which is why I’ve not banned it. Clearly, there are strong opinions about it, and I think a ban is probably appropriate at this point. At the very least, it should be clearly labeled as AI.

However, I think it’s super important to note that not everyone can readily identify what is and is not AI, so if someone does post AI, we should offer up some grace and kindness to that person, who may simply be sharing a picture that they genuinely thought would be appreciated.

I welcome thoughtful discussion and suggestions, and I’ll update the sidebar with a couple rules after I’ve had time to read what you’ve had so say.

Those are some floofy plumicorns!
