Besides it being funny, I think this accidental exposure of an LLM prompt reveals the real crux of their use in business and what a non trivial amount of managerial business *is*.

It's not used to provide conversational scaffolding around any real content. It's used to provide filler for filler. Emptiness extended.

I love prompt leaks like this because—paradoxically—in attempting to avoid engagement, they reveal true feelings and intentionality.

we have to go back

Starting to get the impression that Microsoft and others are realizing the general demand for LLM Assistants by users is way lower than what they need it to be to make up for the billions they have to spend to keep it running and they’re trying desperately to manifest it into a hit product by leveraging all their currently successful ones.

"Free Zune with every copy of PowerPoint!"

I actually laughed out loud at how incongruous the last line of this screenshot was and it prompted me to boot up MS Paint on my work computer for a few minutes.

At the local Loblaws CityMarket the other day I noticed the self-checkout area (which has six stations) now has heavily constrained hours and I'm very curious as to why.

Two possibilities I can think of:

1. Somehow, the self-checkouts are more labour intensive or require more high-value staff with specific skills.

2. They're restricting it to times of the day that people with traditional dayjobs might go shopping in an attempt to reduce shoplifting at checkout.

I think this pretty much nails why a certain class of management doesn't seemed bothered at the lack of quality or fit for purpose in most LLM art output: that's not the feature on display for them.

I'm hoping this spirals out of control in the same way I pump my fist whenever some new devastating nugget is unearthed about ArriveCan.
