@whitequark Running a web server in 2026 is a meme

does anyone know why the latest debian live image won't boot on my machine?

CPU: transmeta crusoe flashed with custom 128bit RISC-V firmware
GPU: four nVidia TNT 2 cards running in SLI
RAM: dual mercury delay line (32 words × 17 bits × 2, XMP overclocked, ECC enabled)
storage: ZFS RAID2 array of three hundred free iCloud accounts
network: google pixel 9 pro running gemini nano with the prompt "you are an ethernet card. your job is to route packets. do not hallucinate."

Holy shit, i did it, lol. It looks terrible, but it works.

For people who haven't been keeping up with this project, I've been doing ceramics for a couple years now, and recently people kept tagging me in posts about a European feminist hacker collective that was making circuit boards out of court they dug out of the ground and fired in a campfire.

After having an epiphany about some experimental copper ceramics glazes i made last year, i thought i would see if i could solder to them, and i found that i could.

Sooo ... I made a stamp and stamped out some really basic boards for an astable multivibrator (two blinky lights) circuit. I filled the recessed traces with copper powder and had them fired in our pottery kiln.

Now i have ceramic circuit boards.

@chfour There is nothing wrong with AVR itself, I just really hate how it is handled by Microchip and how the only reason us makers can use it is because people re-built the tools themselves it. Also they are overpriced AF! So, I prefer to give money to a company that cares about FOSS toolchains (are reasonably pried and try to do something interesting and innovate) and who's CEOs I had a chat with and figured out what their deal is 🧌

*cough* RP2040 *cough*

@chfour *reading the post*
"Ooooooh FUN!"
*see the word AVR*
"ohno..."

Ignoring my hate boner for AVR, good luck and have fun!

@chfour What is that :clueless:
I don't think we need a heatsink for this 🥱

@WooShell yes, the 8051 is just for the busywork of being an SFP+ module, the actual translation happens in the realtek chip.
