@MargyMacLibrary @waltcrawford I have no idea. (Not even all that sure about what magazine we're discussing here...)

If you know some children and would like a *different* set of witch and wizard books for them, I am here to help.

First up, The Chrestomanci series by Diana Wynn Jones

This has the added benefit of introducing all the other books Diana Wynne Jones wrote, which are also amazing.

@irina Well, I haven’t had an aquarium for (stops to do the numbers) pushing sixty years… so I’d say you’re safe on that count. 😏

This is how it's done:

"Trump is the only man in the presidential race manifestly unworthy of holding a position of power, and has no business ever returning to the White House."

The election is "a choice between a trustworthy public servant who upholds American values and a serial liar who wants to push the country into authoritarianism."

Editorial: One candidate is patently unfit for the White House: Trump

As Democrats weigh Biden's future, let's remember that Trump already failed the presidential fitness test. If Republicans cared about democracy, they'd be scheming to push him aside.

Lovely to see this write-up of the International Astronomical Youth Camp (IAYC). I went twice as a teenager, to Germany in 1984 and Slovenia in 1985, and had a heck of a time; and I knew Christoph and Jasmina (Ina then) who are mentioned. Something to point out to the astronomy-curious young person in your life.

Status report, WTF dep’t: I … seem to be writing a cozy mystery.

Thoughts & prayers, folks…. 😏

I mean, The Guardian might be optimizing their headlines to promote rage/despair clickthroughs to sell advertising, but this sort of toxic propaganda spewage seems designed to become a self-fulfilling prophecy (like the New York Times' reliably getting the knives out for the Democrat candidate—they back-stabbed Hilary Rodham, now they're going after Joe Biden—so they can promote a both-sides narrative).
