step 1 is complete

well, ordered a server, will get glitch-soc set up Today, Probably

so... if you want an account, let me know? :p

@rabbit yeah, I saw one of those boosted onto my timeline yesterday, was very tempted to just do it

but I *do* need to host my website somehow, once it's actually made, so I might as well bundle it together with glitch-soc if I'm actually gonna run a glitch-soc

@rabbit usually I do too--hell, the reason I own unstable.systems at all is because I ran a barely-used IRC network on it for no reason other than I wanted to
@rabbit (though at this point I think I'm just *looking* for an excuse, so...)
@rabbit I mean, the less excuse I have to run one the better, it makes it that much less likely I'll bother :p

@maia yeah, when I've used OVH (though I think I've only ever used kimsufi?) I didn't have any problems personally, but I chalked that up to my being in Toronto and my servers being in Montreal

though OVH having servers in Montreal *does* make them pretty tempting... I want my servers close by :p

@maia I'm hoping to go for a mildly beefy dedicated so that I can a) host a fairly reliable and responsive instance for whatever friends want to use it and b) also run the website for the project I've been working on, without impacting a

I *could* go VPS, but I would rather run fewer servers if I can help it :p

@maia OVH is notorious for terrible peering though, isn't it? I've heard multiple people complain about OVH's generally terrible peering and latency
(asking this is dangerous, because probably all it'll take to convince me is one person saying "yeah, I'd take an account there")
