A little bit of additional magic to the eleventy config allows me to add the web components as common HTML elements so they don't get wrapped in <p> tags.

I wanted to demonstrate a use case I've had for creating a protected area with dynamic content using 11ty. (@eleventy @zachleat)

Protected pages are gated with a Cloudflare worker that checks for a valid JWT before serving the page to the user.

Then by using web components on the page (which request information from an API with the same JWT) I can sprinkle dynamic user specific information into the static 11ty markdown.
