I grew up in Jackson MS just as Jim Crow segregation was being phased out. I remember the separate public toilets, water fountains, waiting rooms, etc. Most of all, I remember the racial hate, degradation, and violence. The facilities are no longer segregated, but a huge current of racial animosity persists. It continues to hurt people and our country. In fact, it has erupted in the trump era.
