It’s pronounced, Deb-voi.
I went to someone’s Twitter profile today and once I was done browsing recent tweets I tapped the X expecting it to close the fucking window.

“I have grown tired of industry players who try to use a safety argument to stop innovation and new entrants from entering their small existing market. Since Guillermo and I started OceanGate we have heard the baseless cries of ‘you are going to kill someone’ way too often. I take this as a serious personal
insult.” -OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush

What an arrogant asshole.

And to be clear, I would agree. While we all have a right to free speech, we do not have an unbridled right to whatever audience we want. Public spaces serve more purposes than just speaking your mind. That being said, the restrictions should be decided by the people and not be edicts from some elected politician or businessperson. Also, I fully expect Elon to be hypocritical about this. He’ll claim that he’s not violating free speech by restricting reach, but if the government does that…
Musk’s “freedom of speech vs freedom of reach” is essentially an endorsement of “free speech zones”. It creates a “free speech zone” made up of just a user and their followers. When Twitter restricts the reach of a tweet, it’s effectively the same as telling someone that their speech will not be allowed outside their “free speech zone”. This is evidence that Elon supports government limiting the reach of speech, such as limiting speech on campuses to specific “free speech zones”.
