Parsnips in chicken soup—highly recommend. They lend a sweet, buttery flavor… Just delicious!
@mds2 Homemade pizza is a big favorite in our household. I do delegate the dough making to our bread machine, though.
I had to ship 16 banker's boxes worth of records for work, and for various reasons it was impractical to schedule a UPS pickup. Let me tell you, the other customers at the UPS store on the week before Christmas were NOT happy to see me.

@steele I'm not sure it's any more complicated than the trend in developed countries around the world of incumbent parties (left, right, and center) being routed in elections.

1. People are mad about post-COVID inflation.
2. There isn't much governments could have done to prevent it or mitigate it in a way that would have made a difference politically.
3. Even if their wages catch up, people still freak out about the higher prices and want to punish the people who have been in charge.

@steele That's not to justify people voting for someone members of his own administration called a fascist. Most voters just aren't engaged with news and politics at a level where that stuff will really sink in.

But yeah, I don't have a lot of patience for the instant "what did she do wrong?" takes. I think Harris ran a brilliant campaign against brutal global political headwinds, and she came up short.

“… This state of affairs explains why in such circumstances our attempts to know what ‘the people’ really think are in vain and why, under these circumstances, this question is so irrelevant for the person who is thinking and acting responsibly.”

“Only an act of liberation, not instruction, can overcome stupidity. Here we must come to terms with the fact that in most cases a genuine internal liberation becomes possible only when external liberation has preceded it. Until then we must abandon all attempts to convince the stupid person. … 1/2
