TIL when i moved back here from my defunct personal instance, a bunch of follows of private accounts didn't come with me (makes sense) nor did they turn into follow requests (surprising).
last time i ran my own instance the thing that really got me was the increasing need for static storage. any tips on that out there?

as my 15 years on the birdsite come to an end, i have many different feelings. one is absolutely anger. another is loneliness -- after leaving all Facebook properties, the birdsite was the last social media site where i was connected to people i know IRL.
i hope a couple of them come here
