i interviewed Rasheed Abueideh about #DreamsOnAPillow, his latest project that is currently being crowdfunded !!

last week, i hosted Game Devs of Color Expo 2024 and was featured on the Steam front page interviewing several indie game developers most notably, developers from: Venba , Tales of Kenzera: ZAU , Never Alone 2 , and 1000xRESIST π₯³
i also had an opportunity to host the offline watch party held in LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA !! i was already in town for an unrelated event, so i jumped at the chance to spend another 24hrs in town to host an event as close to my heart as #GDOCExpo π
the meetup itself was great !! GDOC Expo moved to exclusively being online after quarantine started, but this meetup was the first offline event they'd held since 2019 AND I GOT TO HOST IT !! there were a bunch of first-time members who had only heard of the event from their school or a friend and it was so great getting a chance to meet the next generation of game developers π₯°
we talked about a bunch of issues in gaming, a majority of which i won't list out of respect for the privacy of the attendants, but i had a chance to share different marketing techniques that they could use as indie devs to help get their games on social media which i hope helps them in the future π
i had a great time at the Variety x Tiktok gaming summit earlier this week !! π
met up with a bunch of c-suite leaders from game publishing companies and had the opportunity to share some marketing tips that i've picked up over time from tiktok and general gaming ππ
it was also really awesome meeting other creators in this space and i'm super excited to work with them in the future π€β¨
I was mentioned on Variety for my upcoming Tiktok gaming event in LA this week !!
Was definitely not expecting to get this type of attention on the event, but I'm excited to help others understand the reach social media provides, especially in the gaming sector π₯°
Really thankful Tiktok provided me this opportunity π
yesterday, twitter / x was banned in brazil.
a mass exodus occurred and bluesky, as well as activepub instances like mastodon, all received an influx of new followers.
tbh, the user experience on twitter has been heavily declining and iβm just thankful that i had been setting up on several alternative services so i can continue making projects like @fgccast & @fgc_radio for the community.
iβve been preaching the gospel of open source for the last 25 years of my life and iβm happy to see people start embracing decentralized networks as a small, but important first step of a free and open internet.
finished moving 99.999% of all the @fgccast podcasts feeds from anchor.fm (now spotify) to my own website through @podlove
got the FGC at UCLA guys setup the same way so iβm feeling really positive about the next generations ability to survive future social media culling.
have also been working on GAME DEVS OF COLOR EXPO 2024, an event iβve hosted every year for the last 4 years that focuses on highlighting POC and queer game developersβ projects. we shot this yearβs interviews in a different format than usual; opting to go with a sit-down talkshow format as opposed to a standard βdiscord call formatβ (which i absolutely despise).
excited to see the full expo come together in two weeks π
i just finished linking all of these posts to my website and my discord so now i need to be careful how frequently i update this, but hey: i donβt need to be on the hell site anymore. very excited about that. also, shoutouts to @shiburizu for taking time to help me figure out the best way to integrate pleroma to wordpress.
hint: its through RSS feeds
bluesky keep trying to pull me back there, but without being able to upload audio or videos, its kinda pointless for my use.
also, my site pulls these with rich embed so links, like this one, work. hype about that. that RSS plugin was a good use of $25 lmao
picture unrelated.

been hecka busy the last few weeks.
my podcast with @SakiSakuraTV called @fgccast has been doing super well and weβre getting ready to record the first episode of season three later this week.
today, we wrapped on recording the final developer interview for #GDOCExpo2024 as well, so iβm excited to move into the post-production process (aka editing hell) for that project.
last week, SuperNOVA (the event formerly known as #SuperSmashCon) started, but i was only able to fully attend Day 4 mostly because the #2XKO_AlphaLab playtest has absolutely destroyed any freetime I still own.
even though i only attended on sunday, i had so much fun. my friends from HOUSE OF 3000 were running main stream, so i came out to support them and help with teardown after the event. while there, i ran into some old work acquaintance, college friends, and good buddies who all agreed to snap pictures with me. most notably, i saw the production team from TAMPA NEVER SLEEPS (TNS) who I havenβt had a chance to chat with since combo breaker 2022.
felt really nice to be around people again and it was hype to see the game that originally got me into competitive gaming with a bunch of new pro faces taking top 8 !!
edit - forgot to add that i spent time waiting for all the top 8s to finish by running some sidebets with a random college kid during ultimate top 8. i won the first bet of timer even and odds, and he went double or nothing up to around $20 before i lost and had to give it all back. second picture is after my first win π₯
