Does anyone have any #InstanceRecommendations? I'm finally looking to make the switch but I'd hate to hop to somewhere just as bad or worse than where I am now.
@sunnywillow it’s something I noticed before and tried to bring to the attention of the instance operator.
The cliffnotes is that on this instance I’ve found that:
1) Some hashtags appear to be hidden/inaccessible via search here but not on other instances. Most recently for me it was #FloMask
2) Hashtag suggestions and ranking appear to deprioritize race based hashtags
While on other instances I’ve not run into this problem
#TressieMcMillanCottom being banned on #TikTok (presumably for discussing how #Blonde isn’t a hair colour per se but a signifier of a type of person) is heinous.
#WhitePeople have this idea that they shouldn’t be uncomfortable or have their customs and norms questioned and that functions to the detriment of marginalized people.
It is not enough to refrain from spewing slurs. #AntiRacism requires you to work constantly, to question your beliefs and to prioritize equity over your own feelings
In true chaos gremlin fashion, I went from a marathon of #TheOffice to bingeing #JackRyan without realising I'd be asked to accept another Jim
And so, from an abundance of name confusion, emerged #BlackJim and #JackJim (which is to say nothing of Jimmy)
