Think about this.

White supremacists terrorized Black & Indigenous people for 300 years. And when that terror was finally made illegal, white rebel groups further terrorized Black & Indigenous people for another 100 years via Jim Crow. And while $0 reparations were paid to remedy the 400 years of terror, now to simply acknowledge that terror is called the "woke mind virus."

White privilege is ignoring the cancer of white supremacy—but condemning the teaching of that history "a virus."😐

Carol Cadwalladr is a hero. She was the reporter who broke the Cambridge Analytica social media story, and has been subsequently hounded by some of the most powerful shady operators on the planet. If she is talking about something way beyond anything we have ever seen before pay attention. It's certainly coming. It will be sophisticated and infect every corner of media and social media.

This is a misogyny emergency. A huge outpouring is coming in the runup to the US election

This time Kamala Harris will be the target for the social media platforms that promote prejudice

The Guardian

20 Years Ago on July 6th, 2002 - the brilliant economist and thinker John Kenneth Galbraith, gave an interview in which he said this perfect bit:

“The modern conservative is engaged in one of man’s oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.”

Woking becomes the first council in Surrey to have no Tories at all. I repeat, IN SURREY. 🤣

New way to double the life of lithium ion batteries found.

Batteries can be charged not with a constant charge, but a "pulsed" charge slows anode change.

Cars and smartphones whose batteries last twice as long?

Wind power cost has declined by 1/2. Solar power costs have fallen 90% in ten years

"Solar and battery storage prices have dropped almost 90% in 10 years"

Oil fools ARE RAISING PRICES while trying to kill us.

BUILD ALL THE SUN.

Build all the wind.

Not how I see it.
More like 1,000 years of self-serving ineptitude.

From the Guardian:
"Tory party to lose almost 1,000 years of Commons experience when MPs quit

Sixty-six MPs who already plan to stand down at election have 987 years between them, analysis shows"

It’s not just Thames Water: the whole of the English water industry is environmentally insolvent https://www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2024/03/29/its-not-just-thames-the-whole-of-the-english-water-industry-is-environmentally-insolvent/ There is much fuss about Thames Water right now. but none of the UK's water companies have a hope of meeting their obligations to supply clean water, rivers and beaches and simultaneously meet net-zero obligations. They are environmentally insolvent. Any government has to face up to this reality or we are all in very deep trouble.
The stock market is failing according to the CBI. So why don’t we just let it go?

I posted this on Twitter this morning: https://twitter.com/RichardJMurphy/status/1942861045426516103 My point is serious. The CBI is saying that the situation with regard to the UK stock exchange is getting desperate, because it is losing out to overseas markets and not attracting sufficient business. The question that needs to be asked is, why is that?...

Funding the Future

@daftguru I agree. IMO we’ve invented stories that are now so strong they bind our western liberal capitalist societies into a collective ignorance.

Many factors have weakened our connection with nature, not least that we’re part of it.
We’ve forgotten too much about the natural world and that knowledge is now with indigenous peoples or is a minority sport for nature geeks & scientists.

And that’s a big issue if you want to reimagine a better society.
