Kruder and Dorfmeister changed the way I understood and appreciated music. K&D Sessions is masterful. 25 years later they played it live...

So where did the actual social network go? It’s buried.

I didn't see a natural "cluster" of friends (back-to-back posts) until I had scrolled past 70 items.

The app withholds the content I actually subscribed to until I've paid an "attention tax" of 70+ algorithmic posts. No wonder I stopped scrolling. 4/4

It’s not random; it’s a rhythm. The feed settled into a recurring 4-step loop that happened 5 separate times:

1. Friend 👤
2. Suggested 🤷‍
3. Suggested 🤷‍♂️
4. Sponsored 💸

It is perfectly engineered pacing to extract max attention (2 strangers + 1 ad) for the "price" of showing me 1 friend. 3/4

For the first 75% of my scroll session, the algorithm never showed me two friend posts in a row.

Not once.

Every single time I saw a friend, the very next post was guaranteed to be a Stranger or an Ad. Friends are strictly used as pacing mechanisms to pull you deeper into the feed. 2/4

I don't scroll Instagram much anymore. The signal-to-noise ratio is just too low.

To prove it, I audited my last 96 posts:

👤 Friends: 35%
🤷‍💸 Strangers/Ads: 65%

But the worst part wasn't the percentages, it was the specific "rules" the algorithm uses to hide my friends. 1/4

Strava suing Garmin is really hard to understand.

Strava has the most to lose here.

I'll drop Strava in a heartbeat, it's a totally optional service with a "neato" factor. I don't NEED it.

Effortless and well beyond uncanny valley.. Made this in seconds..

create a wine tasting video about a grape that doesn't exist (but make it seem like it should exist), it comes from a volcanic soils of mordor from lord of the rings. Perhaps notes of hobbit feet and lost wizard ambitions. Make it funny.

Sora

Well.. If you couldn't believe anything on the internet with social media, I think Sora2 locks in the vibes of, "don't believe anything ever" anymore.

This is one of the weirdest feeling products I've ever used ever. By a long shot.
