AI?Fuck no
Everyone says this place is nice and since I have very few other social accounts now, I will try to use it more.

#DnD this evening involved our party hitting level 20. This means we have taken characters all the way from level 1 and are soon to finish the campaign, which is mindblowing.

Also, our rogue tried to flirt with a devil by asking if he wanted to try being a furry...

Baldur's Gate 3 play through has nearly reached 100 hours, not even counting the save scumming. I'm not really even close to finishing.

I haven't played a game this much since Skyrim, and I haven't exactly even been thorough. I have more playthroughs planned. Such a great game.

"Sooooooo... what is AI good for?"

"Mainly making some use of all the crypto farm compute that's being wasted now the crypto market has crashed. It's just snake oil, basically, but everyone is buying into it, so really AI is the future, whether it's any good or not..."

"Oh..."

(8/8)

"Well, is it getting any better?"

"Sure, I mean there's been loads of development, but nothing that will make it any more accurate or make it cheaper. I mean, the work of training it is kinda finished now and it's just really beta testing at this point, so..."

(7/8)

"Oh... um... well, I guess at least it's free?"

"Yeah.... about that... the computing cost is enormous, so companies doing it are running at an incredible loss and will urgently need to find a way to make money out of it soon..."

(6/8)

"Okaaaaay.... well, can it help summarise things that are accurate into shorter, simpler versions to make them more digestible?"

"Noooooo, it's not great at taking instructions, so it can't really write things in a particular style without a LOT of effort, and it kinda doesn't understand length...."

(5/8)

"Uuuuh, is it at least accurate?"

"Well... no.... I mean, it's makes stuff up 3-27% of the time, so you can never really rely on anything it says"

(4/8)

"Oh, so it's good for SEO or something?"

"No, Google is filtering AI content and it's not great at writing in an SEO-friendly style"

(3/8)

"Okay, but it's like entertaining and informative to read?"

"Uh, no, it churns out generic, boring crap"
