I saw this photo along with the factoid that Ringo Starr first sat in with the Beatles on Feb 5th 1962.
64 dang years, it’s amazing.
But it got me wondering whether there are any recordings of those early rehearsals or performances… It’d be interesting to know whether he was wearing out the cymbal from the get-go, or if that came later.
Who knows, maybe that’s why John n’ Paul liked him over Pete Best: maybe the signature Ringo Cymbal-Abusin’ Style was actually just the Beatles Cymbal-Abusin’ Style…
Or maybe they just needed the drummer to be the least handsome, rather than the most.
