it is three years old this last april 🌸

i love
that i can see
forsythia
blooming
from my bathroom window

this room
has seen
many tears
so much grief
and even
death

the sadness that these walls
have contained in their lifetime
is almost palpable

when i move in this room
the air is different
heavier
thicker
more dense

but then there is
the window
and through the window
forsythia
in bloom

and i believe the message
those yellow blossoms carry:
there is still hope
in the world

it may not be in that room
it may not be with you
but it is
somewhere
and maybe you can go
to it

and so i leave the room
and i leave the house
and i leave the yard
and i go
to the forsythia
and from the forsythia
i can see
the bathroom window
where there have been

many tears
so much grief
and even
death

and i know
it is still there
in that room
but it is not
with me

i am with
forsythia

i have found
hope
