Libraries have been shut down and removed from units in Racine Correctional.
Guards and DOC don’t want prisoners reading and learning, they just want their minds to stagnate, the way that they are making their bodies stagnant.
New Post, from GBCI:
“He walked off and came back 30 minutes later with a seg nurse who don’t care about inmates and she say “you want to sign your refusal” “and he say “I didn’t refuse I need a wheelchair.” The officers say “you can walk. Do not getting a wheelchair.” He tried to explain what’s going on with his health but she say “I’m not here to talk about health issues.” Then they walked off. At breakfast time they found the guy in his cell dead”

We won’t win the budget, but we will lose in a way that stops our racist Governor from passing the buck and washing his hands of responsibility for Wisconsin’s ongoing, daily pursuit of Black suffering and death.”
head up to madison to tell this gerrymandered bullshit committee: No New Prisons!
Been a while since I’ve posted, but this needs to get out—
Guards at Green Bay Correctional Institution in Wisconsin Killed a Prisoner on Thursday 5/13. He and others on his tier were calling out to receive medical assistance and his medicines, but the guards did not act, and he died.
I wrote this up, since the news has yet to cover this. Because the DOC is not transparent, we don’t even know his full name. I was informed by a friend who is held on that same tier.
https://abolishmke.wordpress.com/2021/05/16/guards-kill-prisoner-at-gbci/
as described by a friend who’s held captive there:
“we are being put at serious risk over NON serious issues. having too much allowed property is not a threat to the safety or security of the prison. in all the years I've been incarcerated I've never heard of a major unit shakedown to ensure inmates didn't have too much allowed property, especially at a time like this.”
Shakedowns and grouping prisoners into common spaces (enabling further spread of COVID) at Racine Correctional are taking place.
This all comes down to a recent decision to reduce the amount of personal property each prisoner is allowed.
A similar memo just went out at Oshkosh CI, how long till we see jumps in the numbers of people who test positive?
These actions from the DOC are in direct opposition to a DAI policy regarding social distancing.
@thefinalstrawradio just posted an interview they did with one of the folks from Perilous.
This is an ambitious and important project, cataloging all occurrences of prisoner unrest (dating back to 2010, involving two or more people working together) across turtle island

Rep Van Wangaard proposed and managed to get passed a bill in wisconsin that will push prisoners to the back of the line for covid vaccine. State Senate Bill 8, saying that vulnerable “law abiding” citizens should be prioritized, evidently not realizing that being incarcerated MAKES one vulnerable (see for example the fact that more than half of wisconsons prison population has contracted covid, 5x that of the general public)
