info.bar concept phone (2001, 2002).

This was the start of an iconic Japanese phone series, all designed by Naoto Fukasawa.

In future posts I'll post the real phones that have spun off from this original concept.

IME the interface and display are really well arranged and pretty intuitive (each button generally has the same function).

The timers and alarms are cool, although the vibrate alarm (one of the main reasons I bought this) doesn't wake me up.

Also since getting an iPhone, I just use Siri for alarms and timers now because it's generally a quicker solution.

This is my dumbwatch, the Casio GD-350 in black and yellow.

it has an extra display row on the top with a dot matrix segment on the left for things like dates and time zones (and generally displaying text more clearly).

When you have activated a timer, the top row becomes a live view of how much time you have left.

It has a world clock, one-button timer shortcut and vibrate alarm. Because of the last two things, it's apparently popular in the police and military.

LB: That would be kinda cool to have on my watch (which is a slightly more advanced G-Shock)

🤔 The circuitry inside a Casio watch isn't too complex, maybe I could measure it and manufacture a replacement with more features.

Oops somebody already did it! Way better than I would have!

The "Pluto" watch, which re-purposes the case and LCD from a Casio F91-W, includes a compass, infrared programming, RTTTL ringtone (musical) alarms, generates RFC 6238 one-time passwords, open source, and runs for a year on a standard watch battery! Wow!! 😮

more cybrepnuk than Pebble imho

You might have noticed that English text is cut off the screen when it gets long enough, but East Asian text doesn't. This is because you don't have that kind of affordance in east asian scripts, especially Chinese or Japanese (and I remember in a WP7 design talk this was specifically mentioned).
(fuqqq, and I'm not gonna delete and repost because writing image descriptions takes too long~~~)
