@rabbijill, that’s simple. People are shortsighted and easily manipulated. Those in power, those who put greed above compassion, who think they are outside the law of cause and effect will lie and drive the population to whatever ends they desired.
And when the climate gets really bad and billions of people starve or are displaced, they’ll scream at scientists who can’t magically fix the problem.
@georgetakei Forgive me for using profanity, but Trump's entire political career can be summed up from the opening scene from The Blues Brothers, where Elwood explains why he lied to Jake about the band still playing:
"You LIED to me, man!"
"It wasn't a lie.. it was..Bullshit"

These 10 words are why I’m such a huge believer in encouraging more folks to take part in our community, whether that’s asking or answering questions, mentoring or being mentored, sharing what you’ve built, or even just sending an encouraging message to a fellow learner 🙌

@twostraws What?? Yeah, I like the cheesy defense "Well, we were looking for a team account and didn't find one, so we just decided to get a single user account and fake it." Geez.. if a company can't afford to get an account for each of its people it doesn't deserve to be in business.

And it costs SO MUCH MONEY for a HWS+ subscription..

Now I'm wondering who else they're doing this to.

@vikinghoarder @seb @alaric @cstromblad - hey, thanks for the info on contributions. Is there a way to donate via PayPal instead of a credit card?

@georgetakei - I remember when conservatives believed in three things: A strong military, fiscal responsibility and leaving people alone.

They're one for three now. The deficit has skyrocketed under Republican 'leadership' and that whole "Leave people alone" thing is right out the window.

@georgetakei, we Americans tend to think we're on the high moral road but it's been less than 80 years since 'Blacks' had to ride in the back of the bus & use different water fountains, your people were round up and put in concentration camps and calling someone a communist could ruin their lives. Or, God forbid, someone found out they were gay. Oh, and we take pride on ridding the world of nuclear weapons. But a question: What country is the only one in history to actually USE a nuclear weapon.

I think this country could use a bit of humility.

@georgetakei, I second that. Was over there earlier this month and met some great people.

@georgetakei

Hate and anger make people feel strong and in control. That's something many people don't feel right now and the hate mongers are using that against us.

Telling decent people what needs to be done isn't going to help because we already know. We need a leader, and an organized, well-funded organization to fight these people.

I think it needs to be independent of any political party or politician.

Would you consider doing it, or getting the ball rolling?
