Protect your Nextcloud shares with a password and set expiration dates for links when sharing information. Some browsers now have built-in archiving features - not ideal for all access. Expiration dates remove the pressure of manually revoking access.
Do you routinely delete old toots on Mastodon? Most messages become irrelevant after a year, are never read again, and just waste storage. Team Digital Hoarder or Team Data Minimalist?

What is the Small Web?

Small Is Beautiful (Oct, 2022): What is the Small Web and why do we need it?
Today, I want to introduce you to a concept – and a vision for the future of our species in the digital and networked age – that I’ve spoken about for a while but never specifically written about:
Aral BalkanStart with digital minimalism for yourself. Then actively ask others - especially companies - how they handle it.
Never, never, never - even if travel bloggers suggest it or it’s a tip in a book on safe travel - email your passport details to yourself. Email is not a secure communication medium. If your email provider also reads, analyzes, and uses your emails for ads, this can be problematic.
Do you delete photos from your phone? Do you back them up to an external hard drive? Don’t risk someone accessing your photos if your phone is lost. Many "remote wipe" features for smartphones are security and data privacy disasters.
One reason Git repos shouldn’t be archived without gaps - or why it’s good to be able to delete strings: Accidents happen, like posting passwords or keys, or data that never should have been there, e.g., company internals or, worst case, job applications, etc.
How many online accounts do you really need? Many are just a maintenance burden (regular password changes -and yes, you should do this, as providers won’t always notify you of breaches) and a security risk.
Covering your laptop and phone webcams can protect you from major harm.
Not every Git repo needs to exist forever. There are many reasons some shouldn’t be online anymore: they may no longer meet legal requirements in most countries, contain severe security flaws that can’t be fixed, are written in a dead programming language or outdated coding style, etc. The risk is high that a careless user might still use them despite all warnings...
