@martinvermeer @rochelimit @danluu last year, Apple generated $102B in profit, Google $88B, Microsoft $88B. These are some of the largest profits of any corporate entity in history -- Standard Oil's profit as a % of GDP (in 1907) was lower.
@danluu several years ago you mentioned there being a very difficult accepting spam/accepting new users tradeoff for twitter. here's an interesting example of how they recently cracked down on spam apparently in exchange for cracking down more on new users https://x.com/Prigoose/status/1821294316272398496

Last night I held a Twitter Speedrun to help lurkers post more frequently. Four of their accounts have now been suspended. None posted anything egregious. Twitter bans are horribly broken @elonmusk

@danluu i think there's a typo in https://danluu.com/hardware-unforgiving/ in the 2021 notes: "but the high order bits are all on the product size" -> "product side". Also "you might get big company to acquire" -> "you might get a big company to acquire"
Why hardware development is hard

@danluu
"are strong and at there's" -> "are strong as there's" maybe?
There's also something weird going on with these <a> tag where the title is one of the footnotes, both in "these are trivial switching costs" and " triggering Losing CTR and google.com query distribution data triggering accuracy; comprehensiveness"
@danluu somewhat confusing graphical issue on https://danluu.com/butler-lampson-1999/ where Software engineering/RPC/... show up in "Maybe" when they should be in "No". This is because each <tr> has two <td>s when it should have an empty one in the middle.
What's worked in Computer Science: 1999 v. 2015

@danluu there's a stray [^E] in danluu.com/talent
@danluu for me on Chrome/121 macOS 14.2 the <abbr> here at the end cuts off the last like half of the text
@danluu and i think you also skipped a word here
@danluu also i think you skipped a word here
@danluu you say 20-50% of minors get images every day but I think you're confusing 100,000 get images per day and there being 200,000,000 minors on the platform
