@marcoarment Took a trip to my local BMW dealer last weekend hoping to check out pre-owned iX’s and new X3’s. As it happened, the dealer had a lease return of a 2024 iX an hour before we arrived. 10k miles. We test drove both cars. Wow. Huge difference between them in terms of ride, performance and comfort. The iX blew us away. Went home and made an offer via email Monday. Drove home with it Wednesday. It was your endorsement in episode 632 that put my wife over the top, so thanks for that. 😊
I just inserted a sentence to this effect, but it's pretty interesting that inflation-adjusted, the difference between a C64 and an Apple IIe circa 1984 was about the same as a Meta Quest and Vision Pro today: ~$600 vs $4000. And I'd say the disparity in capabilities was about the same too. Same markets, but different classes of devices.

Looks like my mom has started listening to the latest @atpfm member special. https://atp.fm/atp-tier-list-pizza-toppings
The US election is coming. I will keep my comments about it to exactly one post and this is it.

@gruber Not bad. It only happened 8 months ago.

Q: who is the head coach of UCLA football?

@siracusa In the recent photo workflow special you made reference to using an app to associate location data to images captured on real cameras. Which do you recommend?
This week’s Economist cover story is brought to you by US automakers and the federal government, both of which have been ignoring car bloat for decades.

“Musk and his partners’ overall stake has shed $24 billion in value — a vaporization of wealth that has little parallel outside the realm of economic or industry-specific crashes, or devastating corporate scandals.”

Musk’s Twitter investors have lost billions in value

Musk bought X with a combination of his own money, bank loans and capital raised from friends and associates. Here’s how far underwater his investors are today.

@siracusa @marcoarment @caseyliss As much as it pains me to say this, this entire thread largely debunks John’s comparison to iPhone at launch.

Per usual, listening to this week’s show while on a ride. (#bikeist)

@siracusa is wrong. I was lusting over the iPhone at launch, but would never go with AT&T. The day the 4S launched on Verizon in 2011 I was all in. Had every model since.

In contrast, I’ll be sitting on the sidelines for the AVP…for a while.
