Hammerhead-head on a unicycle: an assemblage of molecules and memories
@merlinwisdom this is the best piece of advice for personal interaction. Either they’re happy with how they look and they’ll talk your ear off about it, or they hate how they look and will feel bad (and maybe still talk your ear off about it). Either way it’s a bad outcome.
@waldoj in my experience, the worst is the canker sores on the insides of my cheeks. But I do this every winter when local oranges and grapefruit are in season, but it’s totally worth it. Enjoy that citrus.
@danielpunkass also love it for the opposite reason here in Phoenix. In mid/late summer my pool’s 88-89F first thing in the morning, and often is 93F by late afternoon. Pretty brutal to swim in that water but heat training is the latest big thing
@merlinwisdom great idea I’m always happy to listen to Disintegration or Automatic for the People.
@kraigschmidt @mathowie @neven sorry: I think it’s actually the week before not the day before…
@kraigschmidt @mathowie @neven that’s because Ticketmaster doesn’t actually provision your ticket till the day before the show. It says “ticket available in” and then it has a countdown. You’ll be able to add it to the wallet then. It’s weird and frustrating and Ticketmaster/live nation is the actual worst, but they control so many venues now, esp post covid, that they’re impossible to avoid if you got to many shows at venues larger than ~500 cap.
@merlinwisdom I’ve never done this because I’m bad with faces but it’s been done to me and the only time I ever appreciated it was when my aunt who I hadn’t seen in several years said I reminded her so much of my uncle/her older brother who is just a delightful man and one I’ve always deeply admired. That was very nice. Otherwise it’s a hard no.
@gruber I used my finewoven case for a few months, and it still looks and feels fine, but I hate a case with a bottom lip, especially now that swipe up from the bottom is a routine action. I also love a good patina on a case (and stuff generally) so I got the Ryan London one and it’s been great.
@jkottke communities that haven’t translated to other platforms are still there. Tech and politics Twitter are useless now, sure. But NBA Twitter, soccer Twitter, ex-members-of-my-religious-tradition Twitter. These are all things that are pretty insulated from everything else happening there, and haven’t moved and probably won’t move somewhere else. Not in a complete enough way where they’ll still feel like the thing they were at twitter anyway.
@counternotions but there’s no Clippy-style help from an LLM AI tool in Xcode or Siri or whatever.
