Anderson in Bloom: A Spicy Enemies-to-Lovers Romance of Love, Flowers, and Hollywood Secrets by Jennifer Dugan My rating: 4 of 5 stars After finishing The Ride of Her Life: A Novel yesterday, I was still jonesing for a good, solid romance that didn't rely on non-communication as a plot device. I wondered if deciding to jump into Anderson in Bloom right away was a massive mistake.
So, I did a thing. A soft launch of the first part of my passion project body horror comic.

Falling for Your Ex’s Ex
Get Over It, April Evans by Ashley Herring Blake My rating: 4 of 5 stars This was an interesting read. We've got April who is struggling with life in general - friendships, business, family, and no love life in sight. She ends up with a summer job teaching art and it turns out her co-teacher and cabin-mate is the same woman who April's ex left her for.

Black Dahlia: Murder, Monsters, and Madness in Midcentury Hollywood by WILLIAM J MANN My rating: 4 of 5 stars What an exhaustive review and analysis of the Black Dahlia case! I learned so much about Elizabeth Short, the police, the journalists, the suspects, and the families involved. I'd watched a documentary or two about the case but never got the insight into it - and the woman at the center of it - before now.
Gasps and Cores and Author Inserts, Oh My!
Coda by Anna Gram My rating: 2 of 5 stars This is one of those books that was sort of frustrating to get through. It was frustrating for a few reasons - I even took notes which normally means I was mad or needed to get the irritating thing out of my head before I could move forward. Dark Sisters by Kristi DeMeester My rating: 5 of 5 stars What a ride! This one hooked me right from the start and didn't let go. It could get a little frustrating initially when switching between the time frames but once the connections started coming together, I enjoyed going back, and back further, and then to the current era. We've got a mom and daughter in 1751, a mom with a daughter in 1953, and a privileged preacher's daughter in 2007.
Two Publicists Walk Into a Romance Novel…
Playing for Keeps by Alexandria Bellefleur My rating: 3 of 5 stars I'm a little torn on this book. And I figured I would be when I requested it from NetGalley. I love Bellefleur's writing. She's got such great humor and I love her characters. But did I want to read what was essentially a Travis Kelce/Taylor Swift fanfic? Not really.
