I saw a slug tonight
TSA agent chose violence this morning and, reacting to my t-shirt as I exited the body scanner, said that Pluto was still a planet. Almost got put on a no-fly list.
Another day, another book completed. This one is 100 small pages, offering a quick synopsis of asteroid detection and threat management. It would be an engaging intro to the topic for someone less familiar than me, but I was still entertained and managed to pick up a few new bits of info. #BetterKnowAnAsteroid

In this edition of "Justin's Mastadon Book Club": I finished this short tome about the space race the other day. It was a little drier than my previous read, perhaps to be expected coming from a historian rather than a journalist, but I picked up some interesting tidbits--especially from the last couple chapters summing up the lasting impact of Apollo.

Think I might do a little book about asteroids next...

Drained my phone battery writing this little #BetterKnowAnAsteroid thread. After that interruption, I'll just say... stay tuned for more great asteroid content!
JWST's recent observations of Chariklo gave me an opportunity to revisit the object in the planetarium, improving my visualization of this little world while adding the new information from JWST's occultation and spectroscopic data. #BetterKnowAnAsteroid
And this week offered a chance to revisit the object that likely got my whole #BetterKnowAnAsteroid bit started. The discovery of rings around Chariklo (and the news leaking on the bird site) offered me my first chance to highlight a quirky discovery after getting my current planetarium job in 2013. I've embraced the weirdness of minor planets ever since. #BetterKnowAnAsteroid
