Thanks for writing this up, @dmoren! My full writeup, with many samples of Apple Photos getting automatic concert event tagging very, very wrong, can be found here:

What bugs me isn't that such mistakes happen, because mistakes are always going to happen. The fact that we can't edit or remove these broken tags is what makes this so exasperating. Improving the AI behavior would be nice, but what we really need is a way for us humans to validate that the tags are correct.

@joesteel

* Since I live near downtown Boston, I am *usually* within a mile of an AMC theater, so I got these notifications daily
* This AMC notification doesn’t actually do anything, it’s just advertising: it shows their logo but I can’t tap on it
* Spent next couple weeks or so getting annoyed by this, going into Settings, reviewing Notification settings, AMC app settings, etc
* Eventually stumbled across Wallet settings, and figured out that AMC was somehow sending the notification that way

@joesteel Version of this I hit recently:

* Installed the AMC Theaters app, to access digital version of a movie ticket
* Granted AMC permission to send notifications so tickets would show up
* Could not get the digital version of the movie ticket to show up in the app
* Started getting an undismissable AMC notification on home screen every time I’m within a mile or so of an AMC theater

@daringfireball 2014 seems so long ago:

❝ Musk: I think we should be very careful about artificial intelligence. If I had to guess at what our biggest existential threat is, it’s probably that. So we need to be very careful with artificial intelligence. I’m increasingly inclined to think that there should be some regulatory oversight, maybe at the national and international level […]❞

I guess now there’s enough dollar signs for it not to be a threat anymore?

Elon Musk Compares Building Artificial Intelligence To “Summoning The Demon” | TechCrunch

This past week, Tesla CEO/Living, Breathing Tony Stark/Space X Founder Elon Musk was interviewed at the MIT AeroAstro Centennial Symposium. While the whole interview is worth watching, one answer to a question from the audience takes a particularly intense turn.

Howdy.

I forgot about this site.

I know the cool kids prefer this site to Facebook, but, well, yeah.

But I sure am glad I’ve weaned myself off Twitter for the most part.

Anyway.

Hi!

I keep forgetting this site exists.

I’ve given up on Twitter, and a lot of people are suggesting giving up on Facebook.

Guess this is the last alternative standing?

Toot.

Hey look Mastodon still exists. Hi!
I keep forgetting that Mastondon exists. From what I can see, it looks like most of the others I’ve followed all forgot about it, too.
…that or everyone I was following abandoned the Mastodon expriment?
