@perlman and last (sorry for the spam), I really do love your article about getting started with basic hosting on reticulum. That’s the shit I’m here for. I see the vision. I just think there are more pieces to be filled in that people have yet to fully realize yet. I read the Nodestar Playbook from your bio and I sort of see the same thing played out - Meshtastic is pretty nailed down, but the jump from Meshtastic ➡️ reticulum for the layperson/lay-community isn’t there yet IMO
@perlman FWIW, im sure you saw I’m more of a UX/software guy, with no major technical background. I’m well versed enough recently in Meshtastic’s capabilities as well as limitations, playing with it for about 6 months. I’m always excited by the prospect of new paradigms, but I’m having trouble seeing yet how reticulum could be harnessed for a truly decentralized (local-ish) infrastructure. I’m gonna keep being curious!
@perlman for sure! I understand. I think the question for me still is what a wireless, decentralized network layer could look like, especially poking into something like NomadNet. I think reticulum is A+ in terms of dynamic network architecture, but Meshtastic doesn’t really hold a leaf to the wind in terms of supporting anything more than basic text messages, and less so at scale. Im just trying to envision what low-barrier-entry high bandwidth intermediary links could look like

@perlman very very cool post. I’m on Meshtastic - I wonder how ret. can scale and move away from public tcp/IP and towards other mediums such as Lora.

Question: is reticulum still being developed? I thought the main dev made a blog post that he’s stepping down from the project.

Watching Fedi and the world react to the US president go absolutely unhinged in public, threatening war crimes as his cognitive grip disintegrates before our eyes, watching the horror and the outrage…there is something I want to tell you from Minneapolis.

And I’m not sure how, and I’m not sure if I can, but I want to try. People are always thanking us and calling us heroes and asking us for some kind of…something, anything we can offer in the face of the authoritarian march, and well, here it is, here is something, if I can figure out how to say it.

@smarthomejunkie thanks for bringing this to my attention! will pair nicely with some of the notifs I already have set up on my Ulanzi pixel clock (which you also taught me to set up via your video)
