The bill would have required Americans to prove citizenship with documents like a passport or birth certificate just to register to vote — despite research showing millions don’t have easy access to them and noncitizen voting is exceedingly rare.

It also would have forced every state to submit voter rolls to a DHA system that has wrongly flagged U.S. citizens.

Trump called it a top priority. The Senate just rejected it.👏
