Fyi that photo is actually the last iNaturalist observation I submitted. Not exactly a wildlife photographer, am I. πŸ˜†

[big poorly focused beetle pic for attention!]

My student is conducting research on how species traits influence @inaturalist observations. Are you an inaturalist user, in the United States, over the age of 18? Please complete our survey! (and please repost!)

Way, way behind on my podcasts (stopped mowing the lawn, 🀷 ).

Two that really stood out to me recently included

1 - @cbahlai How do you know on Ladybug vs Ladybeatles misinformation, which was eye opening for yours truly (even though I should know better)

2 - David Pogue's Unsung Science on the Cape Town drought solution that involves hiring women to chainsaw down pine trees!

HDYK Episode 8: Eminent ladybugologists and zombie ideas with Kaitlin Stack Whitney and Sara Hermann β€” How Do You Know?

You weirdos over here also deserve to be spammed with images of this cat. This ridiculous creature now lives with us. His name is Cauliflower. He's 4 years old, likes small spaces, being fed regularly, spooning, and drooling when you pet him on his folded-in ear. His dislikes include crinkly plastic bags, taking his medicine, and, unexpectedly, a toy snake that my 11 year old had in her room. We think he's been through some stuff, and look forward to giving him a much cushier life from now on.

One of the most disappointing work-related things about the collapse of Twitter is that we're about to lose a space that allows historically marginalized scientists to control their own narrative and build a virtual community that may not be possible to create locally.

Basically all the "enthusiastic adopter" spaces I've traveled in. The ones that say they're for everyone without talking to a user base that doesn't look like them. It's.... something.
You're not a real mastodon fan, you're just here to find a boyfriend.
