I start my new job today as a student nurse. It's one step up from the job I've been doing (nursing assistant) and I feel so ready.
I'm contracted to this role for about a year - until I finish my registered nursing degree and graduate. I can't wait to start (in about two hours from now!)
So as a nursing assistant my main goal for a shift is minimal 👊🏻 and minimal 💩, and my last shift this week at my current hospital delivered pretty well on both.
It was a bit of an odd shift and I had to make a bunch of decisions on the fly. My brain was mush by the end, but I felt capable and competent, and I like that feeling.
I start my new job as a student nurse at a different hospital on Monday and after that last shift, I'm feeling great about extending myself into a new role with new responsibilities.
Trying this Mastodon thing again.
OH NO HERE COMES AN INTRO
Current obsessions:
Stephen King, Baldur's Gate 3, bass guitar, raisin toast.
Me:
🦇 Post-goth. It's Halloween all year round at my house, but I'm slack with eyeliner these days.
💉 Student nurse on track to graduate as an RN in November. I'm not always the oldest student in my classes, but I usually am. I currently work as a nursing assistant/student nurse. Definition of a good shift: minimal 👊, minimal 💩
🌶️ I love cooking when I'm not otherwise too tired to cook. I am a fancy home cook and talk like I'm a big expert while watching competitive cooking shows.
🎻 I sing and play flute, sax, viola and guitar, just one at a time tho. Once upon a time I was serious about it.
🐾 Also in my house: three cats, one dog, and my partner @DanMLato 🖤
