@HampshireKarin Who is this "we" that turns a blind eye? And how did you end up in it, given that you are apparently concerned about the people in Libya, SA and China?
@HampshireKarin Good morning, and sorry if we exaggerated with the mourning. All we're saying is this: People in Libya had started protesting and rising up against Gaddafi before the western intervention took place. They surely had their reasons and Gaddafi suppressed the protests by deadly military force. He and his regume didn't keep a lid on a powder keg, he filled the keg and then lit the fuse.
@HampshireKarin Let's stay progressive (despite the devastating news) and try and help the people to recover and shape a better future for Libya.
@HampshireKarin We're neither fans of Libya's current Governement(s) nor of Western military adventures in African countries. However, we'd rather mourn 20.000 dead in the floods and 2000+ in the Mediterranean 2023 than a brutal dictator who laid considerable groundwork for the past 12 years of war and racist pogroms.
@tommy @notmy We agree, there's plenty to do also in terms of stabilizing Libya and it's institutions! However, pushing millions into the so-called Libyan Coast Guard and similar problematic institutions who don't serve the Libyan people but only the EU's racist border regime, won't help with that. On the other side, if only one dam of Derna would have been maintained a bit better lately and would have resisted the flood, thousands might have been saved. I think we can also agree that would've been worth basically any price.

#ClimateJustice in #Libya means funding the restoration of vital infrastructure like dams and hospitals instead of militias and detention camps.

Let's protect people, not borders.
