Wow DCR announced this about an hour ago on another website. 5 hour notice for probably removing a bike lane that people spent months fighting for.
We won't be organizing a ride on Riverbend park this Saturday. After 5 weeks straight we'll be taking a little break. You are of course always welcome to enjoy the park all weekend however you see fit. And if you want to help us or have ideas for this campaign let us know.
We want to use the climate emergency to justify more drastic shifts to transportation policy, away from cars and into public transit, cycling and pedestrian infrastructure. Because it is an emergency and change will happen. We can get serious and try for a bumpy landing or we can carry on with business as usual until we crash and burn. Eliminating from.cities is is low hanging fruit.
Imagine if this was just how the mbta was every day, every route?

Who's streets?

Mass DCR won't open Riverbend park so we did. Join us next Saturday to do it again.

Silent to many during debate on Riverbend Park, state Rep. Decker writes to put onus on state DCR - Cambridge Day

While most state representatives, city councillors and other politicians staked out a position long ago on the future of Saturday closings of Memorial Drive to create Riverbend Park, state Rep. Marjorie Decker only broke a noted absence from the public debate recently.

Cambridge Day

We are planning a short, symbolic ride along Memorial Drive this Saturday, July 8, to imagine what it will be like when it is closed to cars again on Saturdays. Meet at JFK park at 10:45 am. We're going to ride together and take a lane. Then gather at a park and share snacks.

We're launching a new awareness campaign about how terrible SUVs are. It is a public service announcement.
No, we don't want to take your car. What would we do with it? We want your car to be recycled, like stripped for metal and whatever other materials might be useful.
