I have wonderful news!

I had to appeal to the State to let me change my name. (Not just a form). It went through a psychiatrist, a minister, and some Government departments. Long story short they agreed to my request.

I now have a shiny new name!

I'm not crying you're crying!

I'm sick of going to work. I've worked in tech for 25 years. I'm burned out and don't need this stress any more.

If there's one thing I can suggest to kids: Avoid IT, avoid Dev work, avoid SecOps, it's all horrible work.

That being said: I'm open to new career suggestions.

I ask you: Why didn't the Enterprise beam up Ru'afo at the same time as Picard? Instead they just left him there to burn to death. What the hell, starfleet!

Going to use royalty free music for this game, I think. I figure if I'm basing the game off existing IP which I don't own (meaning I can never charge for the thing), I may as well just use royalty free music as well.

This is how we stay in budget and actually get things done. šŸŽ¶

Nightshift v0.0.4 tester is out. There is actually things to do now! (If you can count collecting inventory items and then using them on other things, and scoring points to be: "gameplay").

Anyway, there's points-music and sound and ... yeah, look that Polaroid is probably going to be made a bit more family friendly in a future version.

I require a macOS user's feedback please:

With Nightshift v0.0.4, are you noticing an audio delay? The best way to check is to open and close the car door, and see if the sound plays almost immediately.

There is a delay on my VM, not sure if it's a bug or not.

The way the code ties in, is you simply refer to the layer as a sprite collider and then give your response. For example if the player says "look door", we can give responses based on if the sprite baseline is colliding with the area drawn in the Ase file.

See how easy that is?

I really like being able to change the way my adventure game code works simply by drawing areas in Aseprite.

That was a really good decision to implement layers for masks, walkable areas, etc - good job, me!

Hi Team!

I haven't done much on the game lately, I've been busy.

So, the only thing I have to offer you this week is an incomplete sample of the first room source code. It's available on the itch page: https://kyamix.itch.io/nightshift

The same room in AGI is at: https://github.com/historicalsource/police-quest-1/blob/main/SRC/RM6.CG

I have a big exciting secret, which I can't tell anyone for circa 6-8 weeks, or maybe not ever (!), and it is eating me up inside.

I don't like waiting.
