Cambridge working group of Boston DSA, now on the fediverse! Organizing for housing for all, a citywide Green New Deal, defunding the police & a socialist future.
@mikeconnollyma.bsky.social is our OG democratic socialist state rep, and his leadership continues to pave the way for a rising cadre of bold leftist leaders changing the status quo on Beacon Hill. I am so grateful for his support in our race for Cambridge City Council.
The disastrous lapse in SNAP benefits has put a spotlight on food insecurity โ€” an issue that was already getting worse here, especially with the loss of the Daily Table. But we can fill that void, while giving the grocery chains some healthy competition. It's time for a city-owned grocery store.
My partner @liceagayara.bsky.social and I just early voted at the Cambridge public library. While waiting on line to vote for Ayah Al-Zubi @votealzubi.com #1 for Cambridge city council (we have rank order voting), Ayah Al-Zubi walked by on her way out and told Yara 'I love your keffiyeh' ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ‰
We had @votealzubi.com at todayโ€™s Bike Bus and it was delightful! She is definitely on my ballot and hope that you consider her for yours. www.cambridgeday.com/2025/10/15/a...

Ayah Al-Zubi vies again for a seat on City Council after ranking high in No. 1 votes during 2023 run - Cambridge Day

A self-described โ€œorganizer by heart,โ€ Al-Zubi has a community-centered mindset that made her stand out when she first ran for office in 2023.

Housing is a human right โ€” and should be treated as a public good. Our campaign's vision is to leverage government resources for permanent affordability.
Proud to stand in solidarity with Starbucks workers alongside my DSA comrade @votejivan.bsky.social! Today was a practice picketโ€ฆ we're just getting started. For now, take the "No Contract, No Coffee" pledge at sbworkersunited.org/take-action / follow @sbworkersunited.org + @bostondsa.org for news!

Turns out a lot of people don't even know there is an election coming up. Today we met Patrick, who literally lives under a rock. He was really excited about our plans to make dignified housing affordable for all! Come join us on a canvass & help get the word out! actionnetwork.org/campaigns/ay...
Climate change is happening NOW, which means more flash floods. Cambridge needs to get more proactive in addressing our sewer overflows, which expose residents to dangerous untreated wastewater. I support better infrastructure in Alewife Brook + other climate solutions to address this. #mapoli
Affordability goes to the heart of our values. What kind of Sanctuary City are we, if we force our most vulnerable out? Standing up to Trump is one part of the fight. Keeping our community inclusive, affordable, and dignified is the other. Make no mistake, these issues are interconnected.
Social housing just makes sense. It creates truly mixed-income communities. It's self sustaining. And it can add hundreds of new homes across the city, including many that are deeply affordable. Projects that are publicly owned & democratically controlled. www.thecrimson.com/article/2025... #mapoli
