If you are looking for a new podcast to check out whilst learning about the world of plastic pollution and solutions, I recommend you check out one of these three podcasts!

1. Plastisphere podcast is one of the first podcasts I started listening to back in 2020 and I’m a huge fan of Anjas method of plastic story telling!

2. The indisposable podcast created by Upstream celebrate solutions to plastic pollution and feature heroes of the movement.

Plastisphere – the podcast on plastics, people, and the planet

My time in California is coming to a close this week and I am grateful to the organizers for the opportunities to talk about Plastic pollution and the impacts of microplastics to human health research we are conducting at RTI International.

Thank you to Monterey Bay Aquarium and MBARI for the opportunity to chat with researchers and K-12 teachers about plastics!

And many thanks to City of Sunnyvale for hosting me as part of the sustainability speaker series this spring!

The many insightful questions and conversations from everyone in these meetings give me hope that we can create accessible and sustainable solutions to plastic pollution.

Truly enjoyed attending the Duke led workshop on quantifying the social costs of plastics! It was a wonderful moment to be able to discuss with scientists, lawyers, policy makers, economists, NGOs and more about the importance and feasibility of such a topic.

The trip to DC was all the sweeter as I got to meet my book co-author and inspiration, Jenna Jambeck for the first time in person since we started collaborating in 2020. Looking forward to many more future collaborations!

Hey Everyone!

Jenna R Jambeck and I are going live with @mitpress on Reddit (r/environment) today 6-8 pm EST!

Feel free to join us and ask your favorite #plastics questions!

Today’ book signing at #sermacs2023 was a great success!

Come check out the RTI International booth to learn more about RTI and get a free signed copy of Plastics tomorrow and Friday!

I gotta say, the Keynote presentation I gave for the North Carolina Marine Debris Symposium today has been one of my most enjoyable talks this year!

Many thanks to the organizing committee for having me and for their encouragement to weave in my personal story about getting into science, plastics research, and science communication.

Looking forward to the other awesome opportunities to discuss with local NC community members, scientists, and policy makers this week.

Miriam’s plenary talk at #ISES2023 was phenomenal! Really love the solutions driven approach to her talk on chemical production and human exposure. Most powerful figure for me was the graph describing plastic production growing faster than most other chemicals!

Join us tonight 8 pm EST on Facebook live as we talk about the book Plastics!

Event by Imari Walker and Jenna R Jambeck on Monday, August 21 2023

The podcast is about to be posted soon and I am so excited to announce that I am one of the co-hosts for the first 12-episode season of Aquathread! 🥳

Produced by @julianne.journalism and recorded at WUGA Studios, in Athens, Georgia, the aqua thread #podcast works to bring you candid guest interviews, new voices and often underrepresented perspectives on many topics including plastics.

Aquathread is hosted by @JambeckResearch and co-hosted by a rotating set of early career hosts.

Join Drs. Jenna Jambeck and Imari Walker-Franklin as they share the story of making the Plastics book, their favorite excerpts from the book and answer questions from the group.

Plastics* is a comprehensive introduction to the plastics life cycle—the impacts on our lives, our future, and our planet—and the actions we can take.
