A devastating TED talk from climate scientist James Dyke (@jamesdyke) about the folly of Net Zero, and the grave danger of hoping that miraculous future technologies will save the world from our present inaction.

Here is how he concludes his presentation:
“We must be honest about where we are and where we are heading. We risk losing everything that we care about, everything that we value, that we love. Now, I want to believe I'm wrong. I want to believe that my children will somehow come to possess miraculous carbon removing machines — but every time I look at the evidence, there is an ever-increasing gap between hype and reality. This does not mean we are doomed. There are alternatives. We can avoid climate catastrophe. But I fear we won’t if we don’t confront our wishful thinking around Net Zero.”
