@InfamousLeopard383 If your only tool is a gun, all problems start looking like riots.
@Gargron What do both have in common? They are both solutions looking for a problem. #AI #MisnomerOfTheCentury
Good point, @mmasnick. On Twitter, it was more like "into your face" by all sorts of algos. Here on Mastodon, as @thurrott discovers, nobody is pushed in any direction. #YourAccountYourDecision

I'm about the age when one normally has a mid-life crisis. I bought myself a bicycle to replace my 23 year old bicycle. I did *not* go overpay for a social media site and then seek to destroy its value in less than a month.

I think, on the whole, I'm doing okay so far.

@Strandjunker Well said!

There might be a wider phenomenon behind this, IMHO: we all seem to be getting into a mood where *any* change is preferably seen as a threat.

Not to say there weren't any dangers at all. But change has always been happening, and still is, and all lifeforms are constantly adapting to it. Whether any given change is "good" or "bad" is a human concept.

@stux I guess it forced people to realise they were dwelling in a silo, and that no company or individual should have authority over social interactions.

Dear .@[email protected], and .@[email protected] (and possibly others),

when is enough going to be enough? My (admittedly very personal) take would be that now is the time to leave .@[email protected] and thereby also .@[email protected], and start a new association.

Financial obligations towards these organisations holding you back? No worries. Drop out, don't pay, and wait for them to sue you. When they do, bring it to the media to fully expose their greed for money.
